This course provides an introduction to real property law. Students examine the system of land registration in Ontario, requisite legal documentation affecting land ownership, legal description of land and search of title.
They explore all aspects of the Agreement of Purchase and Sale and land transfer including requirements of a valid agreement and remedies for default. Students further examine all aspects of new home purchases, warranties and Title Insurance including examining special rules related to condominiums.
The course will conclude with a review of residential tenancies including Ontario Landlord and Tenant Legislation.
