Safety Representatives

The Mantra health and safety representatives' training course will give you a sound understanding of the role and benefits of well-run safety committees. A well trained and properly motivated safety representative will make a positive contribution to an organisation’s safety culture.

Course Overview

• This two-day safety representatives training course provides an understanding of the roles of representatives and of safety committees

• There are no pre-requisites for this health and safety representative course

• The safety rep course is suitable for new and existing trade union representatives, safety committee members, and is particularly popular with public sector workers

• No pre-course preparation is necessary, but it would be useful for delegates to be familiar with their company's health and safety policy and safety committee arrangements

• The course will help employers to fulfil their legal requirements with regards to employee consultation

Course Content

The course gives a thorough overview of the roles and responsibilities of employee representatives and of safety committees. It covers the following topics:

• Sources of law

• Civil and criminal liabilities 

• Understanding hazards and risks

• Consultation and involvement of employees

• Functions of employee/safety representative and safety committees

• Monitoring safety performance

• Principles of accident prevention

• Accident reporting and investigation. 

There is no formal assessment for this safety reps' course, but delegates completing it successfully will receive a Mantra certificate of training. 

This course can be delivered as a bespoke one day course, if delegates can demonstrate a competent Health and Safety background
