Beginner 1 is for people who have no prior experience. This class will introduce you to the basic steps of the dance and fundamentals of partner dancing. We go over the basic, right turns, alternating turns and cross body lead.

We sell our classes monthly sessions of 4 weeks in a session. Each monthly session starts the first week of the month.

If you are going to miss a class we welcome you to jump into one of our other classes either the first or second week of the monthly session. After this all classes are closed. It is up to you to make sure you make it to the classes.

If you are going to miss too many classes we can refund or transfer the current session to the next month. We can not refund an individual class hour or transfer it to the next month. For example you are going to miss one class in a month. We can not refund that single class or transfer it to the next month.

Each class builds on the last class. We require that you make it to the class for at least 3 of the weeks so that the flow of class is not disrupted. If you need to miss a class this is ok. We always review what we went over the previous week before teaching new material.

Born and raised in Chicago, Tony began developing his passion for dance during his years at DePaul University. During his time there, he had the opportunity to learn and train with some of Chicago’s staple Latin Dancers from various dance studios, dance companies, and other prominent dancers in the country. In order to further his craft in dance and supplement his extensive mambo background, Tony has also trained in Ballet, Jazz and Modern. An active member in Chicago’s dance scene, Tony has expanded his skills to include teaching and choreography. He is a former dancer of Urban Vibe, Latin Rhythm’s Bachata team, Legacy Dance Company, Modern Clave Dance Company, and Kinetics Dance Company. Prior to Dance Center Chicago, Tony was an instructor at MMA Dance studio and Latin Street Dance studio. Throughout the years he has competed at 7 international Salsa competitions, the World Latin Dance Cup and the World Salsa Summit, as well as performed across the nation and overseas in the Dominican Republic. In his 4 years of teaching, his classes and privates include Salsa, Mambo, Bachata, Cha Cha, Performance classes, and Quinceneras
