Offered as a short introductory course to help participants develop the basics of New Zealand's second official language. Participants will learn how to use the signs in everyday conversation.
Our courses are designed for Adults and all students must be over the age of 16 and not currently attending secondary school. People who are NOT enrolled in a course are NOT permitted to attend classes (this includes participants' children).
All courses require a minimum number of students (usually 10) to run, so please enroll well before the start date to avoid disappointment. If you require a receipt please send a stamped addressed envelope, otherwise, we will only contact you if there is a problem with your enrolment or the class is being canceled.
For beginners who have no prior knowledge of NZ Sign Language, this course will introduce you to communicating using sign language in a safe and engaging environment.
Course is suitable for absoute beginners with no prior knowledge of NZ Sign Language.
Learning some basic NZSL means you can communicate with NZ’s Deaf community more easily. NZSL knowledge is useful in all areas of life, but it is especially useful if you work in any kind of role that includes contact with the public, such as retail, health care and customer service.
