This class is for students wishing to add singing and Theatre skills to their dance studies. The students will learn singing techniques, script reading, drama skills and games, music reading & the basics in Theatre skills. Students learn small scripts and songs from Musicals. Audition techniques are also taught.
Recommended ages 6yrs and above. MT is an amazing class.
Students will need to bring a display folder to every class. Students to wear clothes they can move easily in (preferably studio uniform) shoes – jazz shoes.
All That Jazz Dance Studio was established in January 1993. They are still located in the same building but now occupy all of level 1. The studio has one of Perth’s finest reputations and is well known for being a quality run dance studio.
Studio owner and Principal Fiona Scott has enjoyed teaching all styles of dance for over 26 years. Fiona started dancing at age 5 where she studied ballet, jazz, theatrical and tapping. She now enjoys passing on her knowledge, experience and the love of dance to students of all ages. Fiona has been actively involved in local Theatre productions as well including performing in and choreographing shows like Chicago, Cats, Cabaret, 42nd Street and Annie.
Fiona is now the new WAAPA Musical Theatre Tap Lecturer and is enjoying teaching Levels 2, 3 and 4 for the Musical Theatre BA course at WAAPA. Exciting news also, Fiona is now a Tapatak Oz Examiner in Australia and hope s to enjoy passing on her knowledge of tap dance in the community. Fiona is also travelling to New York in 2019 to complete the American Tap Dance Teachers Training Course.
The studio originally started with a group of Adults learning to tap dance at the local hall in Wanneroo from 1988 – 1992 (Known as the Wanneroo Tappers). This was so popular that the studio was then opened in 1993 to cater for Children as young as 2yrs through to Adults.
The studio is actively involved in all local dance competitions. The studio provides open classes in all ages and dance styles and teaches the CSTD syllabus for examinations (Commonwealth Society of teachers of Dance). All That Jazz also offers floorshow performances throughout the year and has regular trips to Sydney to learn from Australia’s top Choreographers and teachers.
Our Musical Theatre classes combine elements of Acting, Singing and Dancing! They work towards a Musical Theatre piece which will be performed at our Mid Year and End of Year Shows.
These classes are perfect for the performer in you. They are designed to teach the students the correct use of voice in both singing and acting and uses the freedom of dance to create and recreate musical magic!
Combine singing with movement and character development. This is the true 'triple threat' class. Students learn vocal control to allow confident singing whilst dancing. Lessons incorporate current and classic musicals and is a fun way to develop performance skills.
Music Theatre is a form of theatre that combines songs, spoken dialogue, acting, and dance. Students learn pieces from popular musicals
The St. Albans School of Music currently conducts classes in Musical Theatre. The lessons are all conducted on a one to one basis but small groups can be organised, preferably on enrolment at the same time.
