Our Spanish language program integrates three main learning tools: reading, writing and grammar with emphasis on pronunciation practice in order to develop communication skills.
Teaching Methodology?
The teaching method is customized to the learners' needs and interests, based on the Paulo Freire methodology, what is applied to the teaching of Spanish as a second language. Students contribute their insights and ask the questions necessary for critical analysis.
We offer small, intensive classes at all levels, year-round, and we also motivate students to participate in a full immersion experience in a Latin American country. All our teachers are native speakers with professional and special training.
Student Needs and Cultural Understanding
Edúcate Ya is a small Latino nonprofit organization and our staff can attend to the needs of each student. Our goal is to promote dialogue between non-Spanish speakers and the people of Latino cultures; in order to reach that goal, we make the experience of every participant our concern.
We offer small groups, intensive classes at all levels and private one-on-one or semiprivate (two students). Edúcate Ya is open year-round except national holidays and Christmas break.?
Vision
âIn 2000, Rafael Arellano-Barrera founded the organization in response to a lack of Latinxs in leadership and managerial roles. His vision was to create an organization that would educate Latinxs on how to navigate the western system in order to achieve better jobs and health care, helping them to eventually become leaders in the American Society.â
Mission
The mission of Edúcate Ya is to facilitate multi-cultural exchange and address the integration challenges faced by Latinxs in Oregon through bilingual health, leadership, and education programs.
English/Spanish Intercambio
Our Intercambio program provides an opportunity for native English speakers to teach English as a second language to Latinos while improving their own Spanish speaking skills. Each volunteer commits to 2 hours a week for 6 months and attends a 3-hour training prior to beginning teaching.
ESL classes are taught one-to-one for 90 minutes, then volunteers practice their Spanish with students for 30 minutes. In addition to providing the language service, Intercambio reinforces our efforts to stay connected to our current Latino clients, their friends and families, the organizations that work with Latinos, and our partner organizations.
At the Spanish Language Academy, we are passionate about teaching the rich and vibrant Spanish language. Our academy offers dynamic courses that cater to students of all proficiency levels, from beginners to advanced learners.
All our programs aim at developing the four skills: Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing. We also take into account studentsâ particular needs and adapt the lessons to ensure these needs are fulfilled.
Spanish lanuage is offered by the Inlingua Language School of Boston for all skill levels. Inlingua Language School of Boston implements a systematic approach to evaluating methodologies before, during, and after language instruction to ensure our students genuinely benefit from language education.
The CALA approach to learning languages focuses on high-frequency vocabularyâthe words, phrases, expressions, and grammar that you are most likely to encounter in day-to-day life. We go narrow-and-deep with this vocabulary.
