Course Details

Our Spanish classes are fun and practical, with an emphasis on conversation, and are taught by native speakers with extensive teaching experience.

Different Levels:

  • Beginner. Our entry-level course starts from zero but moves pretty quickly and includes weekly conversation practice. Students are assumed to have no prior knowledge but this course may also be appropriate for people who studied years ago but have forgotten most of the grammar or never had much opportunity to speak.

  • Advanced beginner. Our level-2 course is for people who know basic grammar including the present tense for regular verbs and the most common irregular verbs (to be, to have, to go). Students considering this course should already be able to form and understand simple sentences in the language, even if they’re not quite conversational.

  • Intermediate. This level is for students who are comfortable using the simple past as well as the present and who can understand and communicate at a decent level, even if they still make mistakes. In this course, we cover mid-level grammar, including different ways to talk about the past and get you talking with frequent conversation exercises.

  • High intermediate. This level is for people who are able to speak and understand with relative ease, even if they still don’t know some tenses and want to build fluency. We study the conditional and future tenses and introduce students to the dreaded subjunctive. The teacher also leads more open-ended discussions than in levels 1-3.

  • Advanced. Our highest-level grammar-based course is for students who are fairly fluent but who want to study more complex grammar, such as the imperfect subjunctive, and colloquial usage. This course is less structured around grammar than the levels leading up to it, with at least half of each class dedicated to conversation.

  • Film and conversation. In this conversation-based course for advanced speakers, students watch Spanish-language movies at home (on Netflix, Hulu, etc) and we discuss them in class. Each week, we talk about the plots and cultural context, and the instructor aligns this discussion with the review of grammar, vocabulary, and idiomatic expressions.
