It’s designed as a 3-month series (taken in no particular order), each month-long session focusing on a slightly different aspect of what makes this dance so great. With its roots in Lindy Hop, Jitterbug, and Charleston, Swing dancing continues to steal hearts all over the world.

Here are the themes of each session:
1. Footwork - Learn the most commonly danced patterns and the goods that go with them: rhythms, lead/follow skills, turns, and doing all that to a range of musical styles and tempos.
2. Movement - Create fluid and interesting sequences in your social swing dancing stacking moves together like building blocks.
3. Jazz it up - Improvisation is a key element of Swing and Jazz music, and dancers take note! With proper connection and a little new vocabulary, we can spruce up our basics with some cool outside-of-the-box ideas.

You do not need any prior experience nor do you need to bring a partner (*actually, post COVID you need one, but we can help you find one). Just bring your smile and feet and everything in between.
Learn the basic rhythms and movements of Lindy Hop, including 8 count and 6 count rhythms, swing out variations, and the history of this great dance. No dance experience required.
Spot Dance. Swing. Swing dance has many variations and names. Swing, Jump Swing, Jive, Jitterbug, Boogie Woogie, Lindy Charleston, Shag…East Coast is the easiest of the swing dances to learn. It’s also one of the most commonly known dances in America.
This class will explore the basics of west coast swing, touching on connection, rhythm, and the most crucial foundations of the dance. Great for beginners and returning dancers.
Swing is a group of related street dances that evolved from Lindy Hop. Swing dance partners consist of a leader and a follower. There are three main forms of Swing: Lindy Hop, West Coast Swing and East Coast Swing.
West Coast Swing (WCS) is the most popular in San Diego. As the official state dance of California, West Coast Swing has a large and thriving social community. Known for the ability to dance to almost any style of music, WCS is the perfect dance for any occasion.
