Course aims
To enable learners to experience movements of Tai Chi in a safe and relaxed environment.
To develop body awareness.
To introduce learners to main principles and philosophy of Tai Chi including stances, breathing techniques and relaxation.
To develop and extend learners’ knowledge and understanding of main principles and philosophy of Tai Chi.
To develop and extend an understanding of Chinese culture and its relationship to Tai Chi.
Learning outcomes
Recognise names of Tai Chi forms and stances.
Become more aware of own body e.g. balance, breathing, body alignment.
Identify tension in the body.
Define the underpinning principles of Tai Chi.
Practise basic or more advanced Tai Chi movements, forms and stances, depending on ability.
Develop a more relaxed attitude, reflect on life in a positive manner with the use of Tai Chi.
Since August 2019 its funding has come through the West Midlands Combined Authority and learners on some courses also pay fees towards the full cost of their course. Around 13,000 adults study each year with adult education.
Tai Chi for Everyone is designed to bring calmness and balance to your life (and mind) through gentle, mindful movements. Suitable for all ages and fitness levels, delivered by a qualified and experienced Tai Chi teacher.

There are many different forms of Tai Chi and our particular style is from south East China. It is a pure white crane form called, Shuang Yang Bai Hè Rou Ruan Quan, and in English it is Frost and Sun White Crane soft and gentle flowing art.
