Tap Dance Classes are offered by Wissahickon Dance Academy. The school’s curriculum meets the needs of the casual dancer as well as the dancer on track for a professional career.
Students begin with an introduction to basic tap steps, sounds, and techniques before exploring rhythms through call and response, and repetition.
Civic Dance Arts Adult Beginner Tap 1A - Have you always wanted to dance but never tried, or used to dance and now want to get back into it? If so, come join our tap class. You will learn basic taps steps through warm ups, dancing across the floor and finishing off with a combination set to music.
Tap develops coordination, rhythmic skills, stamina and musicality. Basic techniques and rhythms taught, focusing on control, speed and clarity of sounds. Tap shoes required
Learn the basic vocabulary of tap, rhythms, weight changes, balance, foot articulation, shuffles, flaps and time steps. Dance to the tunes of Broadway Shows and lively tap tunes. Enjoy music of the 40’s, as well as original music by Marion and Lorraine Lundstrum.
