During class, students warm up, practice intricate steps in the center of the room, move across the floor, and work on dance routines from week to week. Dancers improve their tap skills working on small and large movements, complex rhythms, and multi-step exercises.
Children love to move! Encourage them through Leap’s dance classes in ballet, pointe, tap, hip hop, jazz/lyrical and creative movement. Teachers focus on the art and technique of dance, guiding students’ imaginations while incorporating classical steps.
We encourage our dancers to sign up for the full year because each lesson builds on the last. Our spring session ends with a special performing opportunity for all of the students.
Our tap classes are focused on learning basic tap technique, vocabulary, and rhythm through music, games, and percussive instruments. This class explores Broadway styles of tap and musical theater.
Our tap program begins teaching our students the fundamental steps and rhythm combinations to become a tap dancer. While learning tap technique, students will learn musicality and important performance techniques.
Tap Dancing is a percussive art form in which dancers wear special shoes with metal taps on the bottom to create rhythms and music with their feet.
This class focuses on musicality and technique. Teachers individualize instruction for intermediate to advanced dancers as they do tap warm ups, master tap vocabulary and learn weekly combinations.
Students hone a new sense of rhythm in this classic style, with levels from beginning to advanced. Tap shoes are required.
