Our recreational is designed for dancers up to 7 to 18 years of age, seeking to learn and grow through dance training, in a non-competitive atmosphere. Classes are offered across the board, running September through June and included in our Annual Recital at the end of the season.

SBS offers a variety of programs suitable for every dancer. From our pre school program tailored to our youngest dancers to our competitive company that trains full-time, there’s a dance class at SBS that’s perfect for you!
Tap classes are designed to develop rhythm, style, and sound. Students will learn a variety of tap styles from Broadway to Rhythm tap. Exercises focus on building flexibility of the knee and ankles, coordination, and speed of movement
Students will learn how to count and understand various beats within music and by doing so they will be able to grasp the relationship between the sounds they create with their feet and the music.Â
Tap dance is a style of dance where metal plates are attached to the heel and toe of the shoe making sounds when the shoe strikes the floor. It is a very rhythmic style of dance where the dancer is like a percussion instrument.Â
Tap is a wonderful style of dance that allows a dancer to create music with their feet. It is the ultimate component in learning about rhythm and timing.
