The Dance Theatre Performing Arts is a performing arts school offering Children’s and Adult’s classes in dance, drama and voice.
Although taught separately, all classes are inter-related, and culminate in a full musical theatre production at the end of the season.
Recent productions have included: Peter Pan, Mary Poppins, and Alice in Wonderland.
Class consists of Tap & Ballet. Students require black tap shoes -leather soled-Mary Janes & pink leather ballet slippers. Year end routine is Tap.
The development of rhythm patterns, time steps, breaks, turns, pickups, and wings as well as developing various styles of tap and performance quality.
Senior students have the chance to travel Tap Festivals held in key cities throughout North America to train with famous Tap Masters and perform for international audiences.Â
Making music with your feet! This class is full of energy helping to improve rhythm, musicality, footwork, and coordination. Dancers will participate in movement across the floor and in the centre. Placement is based off of both the dancers age and their ability.
Tap dance is a form of dance characterized by using the sound of one's tap shoes hitting the floor as a percussive instrument. As such, it is also commonly considered to be a form of music. Two major variations on tap dance exist: rhythm (Jazz) tap and Broadway tap.
