Event management as a social, cultural, economic and environmental phenomena and as an important aspect of international business and tourism, including the key concepts of events and event tourism and critical evaluation and financial appraisal of how these work in terms of economic development.
This course will help you understand the contribution of event management as a social, cultural, economic and environmental phenomena and as an important aspect of international business and tourism. You will be able to critically evaluate the key concepts of events and event tourism in the context of the study of events, tourism and professional practice. You will use case studies, expert opinions and professional profiles to critically evaluate the role of events in and for society.
In addition, on successful completion students will be able to gain relevant expertise in various aspects of event management including teamwork, leadership, sponsor management, event marketing, event evaluation and project management. The paper contains a mix of theory and experiential learning as students will be required to work in groups to design, market, project manage and implement an event of their own choice.
