Is the travel and tourism industry for you? Do you want to use your knowledge and passion for travel to help other people find their dream holidays? Then this Level 1 Travel and Tourism course is for you!

This course is great starting point if you who wish to learn more about the industry and the career opportunities within it. The course is designed to provide you with background knowledge of the sector including; hospitality, transport, and the UK as a destination.

Learn the foundations of positive communication and customer service skills which are two of the most important skills needed to progress onto a higher level of study or even future employment.

You will have the opportunity to learn from our industry partners through guest lectures and industry visits and once you successfully complete this course, you could go on to study Travel and Aviation Operations - Level 2 before heading into employment.

Entry requirements

• 4 GCSEs at grade 2 or above including English and maths.

Work experience opportunities

We will introduce you to some of our industry partners such as DFDS, Lumo, Newcastle International Airport and the Maldron hotel through guest lectures and industry visits.

English and maths

English and maths are a vital skill needed for working in the tourism and aviation industry, whether you are dealing with foreign currency or providing information on the temperature of a destination there are endless opportunities for you to use these skills. As you have not yet achieved a grade 4 in maths and English you will be supported to progress towards achieving this through our functional skills programme.

Where can I progress?

On successful completion of the Level 1 Certificate in Travel and Tourism you will be able to take the next step and progress onto the Level 2 Diploma in Travel and Tourism where you will be able to broaden your industry knowledge.
