About this Course

BTECs focus on the holistic development of the practical, interpersonal and thinking skills required to be able to succeed in employment and higher education. Employers are looking for recruits with a thorough grounding in the latest industry requirements and work-ready skills such as teamwork.

Higher education needs students who have experience of research, extended writing and meeting deadlines. The two-year Diploma starts by exploring the different organisations, ownership, and business structures within travel and tourism sector and examines how effective marketing and customer service provision is linked.

Entry Requirements

4 GCSE (or equivalent) at grade 4 or above including maths and English

Assessment

Assessment is by a variety of methods including research-based reports, work booklets, time-constrained assignments, role-plays and presentations. There are also two externally assessed (exam) units on Level 3, these come in the first year. A large amount of private/ independent study is also required. 

Where does this Lead

The Diploma is the educational equivalent to two A-Levels.  Many students progress straight into work or an apprenticeship. However, it is also possible to continue your studies, at a higher level, by progressing onto a Foundation Degree course at a wide range of universities.
