  • Violinist Megan Jones was born in Deep River, Ontario. From an early age she fell in love with classical music and by age 9 had already determined on a path to becoming an orchestral musician. Beginning by performing with her local orchestra -The Deep River Symphony- in her early teens, she quickly advanced to playing with the Ottawa Youth Orchestra, travelling weekly to Ottawa for lessons with Calvin Sieb. Her profound love of the violin eventually took Megan to study at McGill University under renowned musicians Yehonathon Berick and Richard Roberts, graduating in 2000 with a B.Mus in violin performance. Since that time Megan has built an enviable reputation, not only as a fine orchestral violinist, in demand with many of Canada’s most well-known orchestras, but as an excellent soloist and mentor. She performs regularly with the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra, the Kitchener Waterloo Symphony, the Windsor Symphony and Sinfonia London among many others. Her organizational abilities, in combination with her tremendous enthusiasm for encouraging rising, gifted young musicians, has seen her become a much admired and esteemed Orchestra Manager of the National Academy Orchestra of Canada. With NAO Founder Maestro Boris Brott, Megan has guided, counselled and supported many hundreds of Canada’s most promising orchestral musicians for over 10 years. Megan is not only an outstanding instrumentalist and leader, but also frequently performs as a vocal soloist with the NAO. She is always looking to expand her knowledge, polish her own gifts and broaden her education in order to become the best she can be.
