Wellington Music Centre is excited to bring music tuition back to Wellington!

The Wellington Music Centre is a Ministry of Education funded out-of-hours music school aimed for students aged 5-12 years old and offers tuition in 15 different instruments from beginner to advanced levels.

All lessons are held in groups and our tutors and relievers are all police-vetted, established music teachers and professional musicians in the Greater Wellington Region.

We aim to meet the musical needs of all the children including those with special needs. The Wellington Music Centre has been running for over 30 years in various venues,

Miramar North School has a wonderful team across the staff, principal and school board who are passionate about music and very supportive in bringing music into the Wellington community.

  • Kio Ora, Nice to meet you all! My name is Leo, and I am a violin teacher who has a Bachelor of Music in Classical Violin Performance from New Zealand School of Music. I have been teaching violin for 16+ years and I have been working as a violin tutor at Wellington Music Centre from 2018 until now. I have also been teaching at Good Time Academy for their 2021 teaching programs since February. While teaching at these music institutes, I have been getting in touch as a reliever violin teacher with other schools as well, such as Encore Music School and Kelburn normal school. These jobs facilitate me with experiences and knowledge in music pedagogy, a more sincere way of approaching children’s interest in teaching which encourages them to succeed with advanced music studies. I have been using the Suzuki Violin Teaching Method, which I was trained by NZ Suzuki Violin Institue. I have enjoyed my experience as a teacher, and I would like to continue to offer my knowledge to students and children and expand my teaching skills.
