Course Details

Violin is one of the most well-known stringed instruments in symphony orchestras. We have Suzuki certified faculty instructor teaching RCM and Suzuki Violin method. Playing violin tends to improve student's concentration with improved attention span, focus and improved self-discipline.

Beginner students start with the fundamentals including:

Correct bow hold and finger placement,
Rhythm,
Music notation,
Meading and learning simple songs.

Intermediate and Advanced students develop increased proficiency in bowing skills, scales and arpeggios in all keys and registers, sound production techniques, fingering, vibrato, position changes, intonation, and musicianship of advanced repertories.

Violin rentals are available at Tom Lee or Long & Macquade music stores to begin class.

Lina has been an orchestral violinist since a young age, performing in BC orchestras such as the UBC Orchestra, Chilliwack Symphony orchestra, Prince George Symphony Orchestra, Kamloops Symphony orchestra and the Fraser Valley Symphony orchestra. She holds a Bachelors and Masters degree in Violin Performance from the University of British Columbia and studied under Canadian soloist Jasper Wood, Juno award winner Andrew Dawes and Eugenia Choi (Julliard). She is a Certified Suzuki violin teacher from Hartford Connecticut, a registered RCM violin teacher and member of the Suzuki Association of the Americas. Most of her students receive first class honours in their RCM violin exams. She is fluent in both English and Mandarin Chinese and teach all levels of violin.

Violin (Ages 7-12)

Hour-Long lesson, once a week. Students are introduced to the violin in a fun, socially-stimulating group environment. In class, students will learn the rudiments of playing the violin, including proper form, simple notes and tunes, and basic music theory and note reading.
