  • Multi-talented Kirsten Allen teaches violin, viola, ukulele, and mandolin at CAM. Ask Kristen’s mother about her daughter’s introduction to the violin and she may call it a “very fortunate accident.” After an embarrassing experience during a piano concert, Lisa, Kirsten’s mother, was determined never to force her children to play a musical instrument. However, at an annual check-up, Kirsten’s Pediatrician mentioned the budding Suzuki program and how it taught children as early as three years old to play the violin. On this suggestion Lisa decided to let Kirsten go see a few violinists, and making sure her extremely shy four-year old answered with a surprisingly definitive “yes” each time, she set out to find the best violin teacher in the area. From there, equipped with a macaroni box attached to a ruler with a stick that Toto, the Cairn terrier, found in the backyard; Kirsten began her musical journey.
