Got a burning passion for metal? Or a passion for burning? Learn safe, effective welding techniques and use oxy-acetylene and MIG welding equipment under the direction of our experienced tutor. This introductory course is suitable for beginners and those with some experience of welding.
Students will leave the course with knowledge of the materials and processes used to make outdoor furniture and sculptures. All costs (gas, rods and equipment) are included in the registration fee.
Please note: Students will work on their own project. Metal/materials for individual student projects are not included in the course fee and are required to complete the course. In the first lesson new participants will complete a safety briefing and discuss their projects with the tutor. Take measurements and/or find pictures of items you would like to make.You will NOT need to bring anything for the first lesson, except for an outline of the beginner’s project you would like to complete. If you have your own safety glasses and ear muffs, plesae bring them to the class.

Bring along your projects (or ideas) and the experienced tutor will help you. Some consumables are provided for initial welding practice. However materials for projects will need to be paid for and supplied by students.
Welding (Beginners) course is offered by Rutherford College. Come along and discover from an expert in the field what welding is all about. In this hands-on course you will learn the techniques involved and then have the opportunity to apply them.
During the course you will learn and practice various welding techniques; however no projects as such will be undertaken. Please note there will be no assessments, certificates issued or unit standards credited at the end of the course.
