Limited to 10 places (FILLS FAST). The tutor has extensive experience in the theory and practice of MIG, TIG, Gas and Arc welding in a variety of materials and applications.
This course is supported by the TEC (Tertiary Education Commission) to assist with literacy and numeracy needs of students. You must attend 80% of the class. At the same time we hope you will learn other useful and interesting skills and have a lot of fun learning with us.

This practical hands-on micro-credential is ideal for anyone who has no or very little MIG welding knowledge or experience and also for those wanting a refresher in this specific type of welding.
During the course you will learn and practice various welding techniques; however no projects as such will be undertaken. Please note there will be no assessments, certificates issued or unit standards credited at the end of the course.
This course introduces the safe use of oxyacetylene, manual metal arc and gas metal arc welding. No prior knowledge of welding is required for these introductory classes.
If you wish to gain AS/NZS2980:2018 certification, this course provides time for preparation, set up and the practical welding assessment itself, under the supervision of an Ara tutor. Your test pieces will then be examined by the external agency issuing the certificate.
