What mysterious creatures can be found lurking about the arboretum? Unravel natural folklore about creepy crawlies and critters of the night as we study what makes these wild animals unique. Discover which of these creatures are mythical and which actually exist!
The Arboretum’s 155 acres provide a living, breathing classroom where visitors of all ages can connect with and learn about the great outdoors. From camps and field trips to adult programs and offerings for the whole family, our classes invite you to explore and get curious about your environment.
Campers escape the cold with Fernbank! Campers, ages 5–10, will travel back in time to explore the coldest regions of the earth alongside Fernbank educators. Campers will play games, create crafts, and learn with exciting, hands-on activities.
The Deering Estate offers a winter break camp, which aligns with Miami Dade County School’s scheduled winter break. Every camp has a different theme and explores a different aspect of nature, allowing campers to have fun while also learning about different fields of science.
Campers will enjoy instructional coaching on our Olympic-style equipment, including Trampoline, Balance Beam, Bars, Rings, Pommel Horse, Vault, Spring Floor, Tumble-Trak and foam pit. Pre-School campers will enjoy arts & crafts and creative movement activities in addition to gymnastics.
