WoodLab 101 covers the safe operation of the core tools in the MakerLabs woodshop. Members and drop-in members must take this orientation before using the woodshop. The tools covered in this class include the the panel saw, table saw, mitre saw, table router, drill press, and smaller hand tools. Students will learn basic tool operation and safety, but will not complete a project during this class.
Founded in 2013, MakerLabs is a makerspace in Vancouver, Canada, born out of a vision to create the best possible space for making.
MakerLabs has 26,000 square feet of workshops, studios and common areas including a wood shop, metal shop, ceramics studio, CNC routers, laser cutters, sewing machines, and much more. Each tool area has a safety and orientation classes required for access. We also have a fabrication team that can make almost anything.
