Course Details

The Woodworking certificate program has been developed to teach you basic woodworking/cabinetmaking skills at your own pace. if you do not have previous experience, but have an interest in woodworking, this course is for you.

Through a series of small furniture projects, ranging from a step stool or spice rack to a night table or wall cabinet, you will gain the knowledge and skills required to operate woodworking machinery safely and effectively using recognized trade practices.

Each session consists of short lectures, demonstrations and hands-on learning involving a hand-tool exercise, portable power tools and eventually  the use of stationary woodworking machines. You will complete a series of designated projects involving several types of woodworking joints, techniques and processes. Upon completion of this certficate you will be able to produce simple shop drawings, make material calculations, machine parts, and assemble and finish a cabinet or piece of furniture.
