Do you enjoy building things and working with your hands? Are you interested in pursuing a career in the construction industry? If so, SIIT’s Carpentry level programs may provide the training that you need to complete your apprenticeship and become a Red Seal carpenter.
Our Carpentry 1: Basic Woodworking course helps you gain fundamental skills in carpentry and woodworking. Learn to construct a variety of projects using the correct materials, tools, equipment, and procedures.
You will learn the fundamentals of producing quality furniture, cabinets and architectural millwork. This program also incorporates a co-op term where you will gain experience putting your skills to the test in a real world production facility or shop.
WoodLab 101 covers the safe operation of the core tools in the MakerLabs woodshop. Members and drop-in members must take this orientation before using the woodshop.
The Woodworking certificate program has been developed to teach you basic woodworking/cabinetmaking skills at your own pace. if you do not have previous experience, but have an interest in woodworking, this course is for you.
