At a glorious 56, BBK DAV College for Women stands tall as a provider of Quality Higher Education on the national horizon. It was founded in the year 1967 under the aegis of DAV College Managing Committee, New Delhi, with the avowed aim of spreading the beneļ¬ts of education to women, synchronizing tradition with modernity.

A multi faculty institution, that aims to blend professional & vocational education with traditional courses, it is an excellent model of what a women’s college can do for women’s development.

The thrust of the college is on the highly innovative and efficient management of all its resources – human and infrastructural. The history of fifty years shows an endless desire to be in pace with vocation-oriented education and challenges of technology, communication & media.

The college combines a commitment to teaching excellence with extensive sports and cultural opportunities. The academic thrust is on imparting in-depth knowledge of the subjects concerned and to develop critical abilities to enable the students to relate and use knowledge in real life situations.

The co-academic and cultural activities are focused around inculcating a strong sense of commitment to nationalist, social & aesthetic values.

Nurtured by an ideal combination of facilities and facilitators, the college scholars, sports persons and artists have been winning the highest honours in their fields of interest.

In the previous session, the college scholars won nearly 95 merit positions, including 22 First, 21 Second & 17 Third positions and 35 merit positions.

The college enjoys the rare honour of having given to the nation one Arjuna Awardee, one Olympian, one gold medalist in Asian Games and scores of players of the international level.

In the session 2021-22, three college players won name and fame at international level. Taniksha Khatri, Fencing Player, won a silver medal in Asian Junior Fencing Championship held at Uzbekistan from 24th Feb to 4th March 2022, participated in World Cup Fencing Championship held at Doha, Qatar, from 27th-30thJan 2022.

She also won 3 gold medals and 1 silver medal in All India University Fencing Championship held at GNDU campus, (Amritsar) from 7th to 10th Jan, 2022. Vindhya Sankth, Rowing Player, represented Indian Rowing Team at Asia/Oceania Continental Olympic and Paralympic qualified Regatta held from 5th to 7th May 2021.

She won 2 gold medals in All India University Rowing Championship held at Panjab University, Chandigarh, from 1st to 5th March 2022. Pawanpreet Kaur, Wrestling Player, won a gold medal in Indo-Nepal Invitational International Championship 2021-22 held at Kasku, Nepal, from 18th to 21st Jan, 2022.

She won a gold medal in All India National Federation Cup held at Mapusa, Goa from 25th to 26th Nov, 2021. She also bagged a gold medal in Open Youth and Sports National Cup 2021 held at Madgaon, Goa, from 27th to 28th Nov, 2021.

The college invests substantially in sports and provides the latest equipment for all the 33 games of GNDU. In the Inter-College competitions organized by Guru Nanak Dev University, our College participated in 32 games and got 24 positions out of which 8 teams won Championships, 8 got 1st Runners-up Position and 8 got 2nd Runners-up Position.

The college has made tremendous contribution to university sports, adding a major share to Guru Nanak Dev University’s exceptional feat of winning Maulana Abul Kalam Azad All India Trophy for Sports.

Continuing its winning streak, the college bagged the GNDU Overall General Sports Championship Trophy (2019-20) consecutively for the ninth time and also won second runners-up Shaheed-E-Azam Bhagat Singh Overall General (Men & Women Combined) Sports Championship Trophy 2019-20.

34 outstanding players of the college received a huge amount worth Rs. 12,00,000 as a prize money for their commendable performance. Cycling player Ms. Sushikala Durgaprasad Agashe and fencing player Ms. Rishika Khajuria got cash prize of Rs.1,27,000 and Rs.60,000 respectively among women players.

In all the fields of cultural activity, the college artists remain at the forefront. In Inter-zonal Youth Festival (A’ Zone) of GNDU held in 2021 The college participants won 1st position in 9 events, 2nd positions in 15 events and 3rd position in 6 events.

The college NCC and NSS units have been decorated with the highest honours. Our cadets have won the honour of commanding the NCC contingent at the Republic Day parade in New Delhi.

In this session, NCC and NSS cadets of the college zealously participated in various state level and national level activities to create awareness in the society on the burning issues.

The college takes genuine pride in pursuing its community service programmes and extensive activities most vigorously. To broaden the students’ horizons, the college provides them abundant exposure through various seminars, guest lectures, exhibitions etc.
