Why we exist
We know the earliest years are critical to a child's future and want children across the Better Start Bradford area and beyond to have the best possible start in life, in terms of their health, wellbeing and life chances.
We're finding out what works so we can share it to promote wider change. To do this we've set up over 15 individual projects - plus other complementary strands of work - focusing on health, social and emotional development and communication, and we are evaluating their impact.
A Better Start
Better Start Bradford is one of five ‘A Better Start’ programmes in England set up and funded by The National Lottery Community Fund. Our sister sites are:
Together we're making support and services for families stronger, so that children can have the best start in life.
Sharing stories, rhymes and books are all so important for children’s development, helping them to learn and talk, and later on to read and write.
cEach two-hour creative writing workshop, is an opportunity to exchange stories of birth and breastfeeding experiences, and using prompts and examples produce a short piece of writing that can offer a fresh understanding of your journey. This is a child-friendly venue and activity.
