Training Program
Bucks County Community College takes great pride in our role to train the emergency responders of Pennsylvania by providing them with an opportunity to receive quality education regionally throughout the Commonwealth, as well as, on-site at Fire Stations.
Bucks County Community College supports educational programs in the concentration areas of public safety operation and management, public safety certification, emergency management operations, and industrial safety. Our programs are designed to enhance a First Responders ability to deliver life-saving services to the communities they serve.
Our Training Program is committed and proud that we link our training courses with the professional certification testing identified through the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Standards. We feel this opportunity offers our State responders with the necessary tools required for meeting the demands associated with emergency incidents.
This training and certification format also provides for First Responder credentialing opportunities within their home jurisdiction. It is our goal to be your full-service provider in Pennsylvania and to always strive to meet or exceed your department training and certification needs.
Bucks County Community College Statewide Regional and On-Site Training Program offers your department the ability to schedule training at your location with a flexible schedule to meet the growing needs of your community. This helps to accommodate the time restrictions and constraints placed on your employees and members.
Our classes offer adjustable course scheduling to ensure a visionary approach to on-demand training opportunities with our College. Many of our current courses and many future courses will be continuously aligned with the pertinent NFPA.
Standards as well as State and Federal Regulations to ensure your educational experience is both practical and compliant with accepted practices involving the emergency services organizations locally and throughout the world.
To accomplish our mission as well as the mission of our customer’s training and certification needs, Bucks County Community College is accredited by the National Board on Fire Service Professional Qualifications (ProBoard) which ensures a valid and reliable testing process. In addition, our College is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.
ProBoard Accreditation
The Bucks County Community College is accredited by the National Board on Fire Service Professional Qualifications (ProBoard). This means that the levels of accredited professional certification offered by the Bucks County Community College meet or exceed.
Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Standards, along with all requirements set forth by ProBoard. The process to become accredited is voluntary and only the most capable agencies apply for consideration.
When an emergency services training agency applies for the accreditation their policies are studied, procedures and processes are tested to ensure their certification testing process is evaluated and held to the standards of the accrediting body and compliance with the current NFPA standards.
The Bucks County Community College is also accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, which brings additional value knowing your training and certification needs are coming from an accredited higher educational institution.
The Bucks County Community College (formally the County of Bucks) has been ProBoard accredited for over 20 years, starting back in 1994 when accreditation was sought and successfully obtained. Since that time, Bucks County Community College has continued to add additional certification levels and the courses to obtain those levels.
Degree Program
The Bucks County Community College, Department of Public Safety prepares practicing and future emergency service professionals through a program that balances technical skills, critical and ethical thinking, leadership, and effective communication.
The department's programs address multiple emergency service educational needs, from professional certifications to degrees. The program allows students to jump-start their degree using industry professional certifications (ProBoard and/or
IFSAC Certification) they have already achieved in their career. Other industry certifications like National Registry EMT can also be awarded credits for students pursuing their degree at Bucks County Community College.
