quality from our head office in Gloucestershire. When the business began it was focused on training drivers for the transport industry, but quickly branched out to train in health & safety, street works and materials handling, becoming industry leaders in crane training and providing construction training for over 30 years.
With 4 training sites, over 10,000 people trained annually, clients like Airbus, Magnox and Severn Trent Water, a cornucopia of valued accreditations including ISO 9001 and more than 15 years as an Investor in People, C&G is the first choice for anyone requiring quality training.
C&G has completed work throughout the UK as well as internationally, in the Republic of Ireland, Spain and the Seychelles.
C&G is also a provider of eLearning courses, and many of their health & safety and theory courses are available as eLearning courses, allowing candidates to take training in their own time, without having to travel to a training centre.
The business began as a driving school with just six cars, but following a change in the law, soon began training on large goods vehicles. This law change in 1969 meant all LGV drivers had three years to pass the relevant LGV test or lose their license. This change in business direction made C&G a direct competitor to the Government-funded Gloucester Transport Training Association.
The business then bought out this competitor, Gloucester Transport Training Association, forming Cotswold & Gloucester Transport Training Services, the origin of the C&G that the company still uses today.
Requests for forklift, industrial and logistics training allowed C&G to acquire a training site in Ryeford, that was just enough to store some vehicles, totalling under 2000 square feet.
In 1990 C&G made the move to Station House, with several offices, classrooms and 3 acres of training site and vehicle storage. This enabled C&G to add plant and machinery training to their growing portfolio of services and the business rapidly grew, training thousands of candidates a year.
The business further expanded to deliver health & safety training and began operating nationally, with 95% of training taking place on customer sites across the country. A full-time team of trainers based around the country look after clients’ local requirements.
The business now operates out of its head offices and classrooms at 201, The Waterfront in Stonehouse Business Park in Gloucestershire, with fully equipped training sites at Station House, Lodgemore and Burton upon Trent.
It specialises in Health & Safety, Construction & Plant, Lifting & Crane, Streetworks & Civils, Materials Handling & Forklift and Transport & Logistics, and designs bespoke industrial training courses for many of their hundreds of clients.
All drivers within the scope of the Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road (Driver Training) Regulations 1996 must be trained and hold a Vocational Training Certificate issued by DVLA. This is required by UK regulations implementing the relevant EU directive.
