East Malling Short Courses, established in June 2011, supplies professional training for land based industries, in particular fruit growers in Kent and the South East and also for enthusiastic amateur gardeners who are interested in caring for their fruit trees.
East Malling Short Courses is part of The East Malling Trust. The primary objective of the Trust is the advancement of science for public benefit, primarily through the support of research and development, particularly in the fields of horticultural and other plant-based disciplines.
The excellent facilities at NIAB EMR and the expertise of their staff have been instrumental in the success of the Short Courses training centre. East Malling Short Courses is a registered Lantra Awards approved Training Provider and has more recently become a City and Guilds Assessment Centre.
Its reputation for efficient and quality training is growing and interest in our courses has been very high. EMSC remains sensitive and responsive to the needs of local businesses. It is forming links to become more involved with their training requirements.
This course would appeal to you if you use Pedestrian Controlled, Ride-on or Tractor Mounted mowers as part of your work. You may work as a groundsman, greenkeeper or in amenity horticulture.
This training course has been developed to help you understand how to operate a reach lift truck safely. The amount of instruction you will require will depend largely upon your previous experience.
This is a half day course but in that time you’ll learn the skills of manual handling with background theory and practice. You’ll look at the types of injuries caused by incorrect handling and how to stay safe when performing tasks.
This course will cover a mixture of theory and practical sessions in aspects of health and safety at work. We can tailor it to suit the needs of your company.
