About Us
First Aid For Schools are experts in providing Paediatric First Aid Training, Anaphylaxis and Epipen Training (delivered by UK medics), Safeguarding and Child Protection courses, and Food Safety Training courses for School Staff, Support Workers and pupils in Schools, Nurseries, Nanny Agencies Playschemes Childminders, Playworkers, Nannies, Au Pairs and holiday/after-school clubs. We also run first aid courses for sports teachers, riding instructors and swim coaches. All our courses may be tailored to your needs. We are the UK leading provider in Anaphylaxis Training and delighted to work in partnership with AllergyUK.
Our courses are regulated by Qualifications Network UK, an Awarding Organisation recognised by Ofqual to offer accredited certification. This regulation supersedes HSE approval. We are members of the Association of First Aiders. Our course criteria follow the European Resuscitation Guidelines (2010).
Our courses meet all OFSTED / EYFS requirements and our classes use active-participation training methods to provide candidates with an in-depth understanding of first aid, the confidence to react swiftly and efficiently, should an emergency occur. Our courses focus on preventing common child-related injuries, rather than just treating them.
All our trainers are UK-registered medical and emergency professionals. We offer an insight into what may happen in an emergency and how to deal with it efficiently.
We are able to deliver courses both nationally and internationally. We work with a number of British International Schools across the world, as far as Hong Kong.
What Makes Us Unique?
All our trainers are qualified medics
All of our trainers have hands-on experience of dealing with first aid emergencies and specialist knowledge of basic life support and paediatric first aid. They bring the experience of their workplace, either working in A&E departments, Paediatrics or for the London Ambulance Service to every class they teach.
At least three years first aid training experience
It is one thing knowing what happens in a medical emergency, it is another skill being able to relate this to those with little or no knowledge of first aid in a clear and simple manner. Becoming a brilliant trainer, takes experience, for this reason we only employ trainers with at least 3 years of training experience.
Active Learning
Every aspect of our courses employ active participation learning methods. We understand that candidates on the course expect to take home a huge amount of essential first aid information. We found the most effective method of teaching is to actively engage the class with the subjects. Our approach is based on the Montessori method of teaching, whereby learning is most effective in an enjoyable, relaxed and interactive environment.
Small class sizes, at your convenience
Our classes are kept small. We feel our candidates need the space to practice and one-to-one attention to benefit most from the course. Small class sizes also allow the attendees to ask questions or for subjects to be covered in greater detail if needed. Classes can be booked at a time and location to suit you. (evenings and weekends at no extra cost)
Experts in Child Development
Kitty Sullivan, founder of First Aid for Schools, is also a lecturer in Child Development. She regularly writes features for the press including a column for Montessori International, First News National Children’s Newspaper, London Baby Magazine and Baby & Me.
She understands the stages of development and accidents which are most likely to occur at these stages. The courses therefore focus not only on how to treat an injury, but what is most likely to happen and importantly, how to prevent it. Committed to increasing public knowledge of first aid issues she also pioneered the UK National Choking Awareness Campaign.
International Training
We are able to supply UK-registered medics, to run courses internationally. We work closely with ISI, BSME and COBIS.
This course is specifically written for schools and those working in the childcare sector to cater for children with diabetes. It teaches you not only how to meet their need but also how to recognise and react to a diabetic emergency.
