G.K.M. Institute of Marine Sciences and Technology, Chennai is a premier World Class Marine Sciences and Technology training institution established by Dr.G.Kathamuthu, Chairman, Suganthi Educational Trust with Dr.Sujatha Balasubramanian as Chief Executive Officer, Dr.K.P.Jagannathan, a high flying researcher well acquainted with international education system as the Director, Mr.C. Balasubramanian, a highly competent and well experienced Master Mariner and Marine industry professional, as the Captain Superintendent.
The college is located at 5 km off Chennai – Chengalpet national highway. (NH45). The campus is spread over nearly 10 acres of land and is approved by Directorate General of Shipping ,Mumbai . It offers UG and GME programmes. The college has an effective QMS covering teaching learning and all other supporting activities and is ISO 9001: 2015 certified, by IRQS.
The Practical hands on afloat training for the Marine Sciences and Engineering students are offered in the campus itself through the state of art facility available in the “ GKM KAMAASHI ” – SHIP IN CAMPUS, which has the approval of Directorate General of Shipping, Mumbai.
The college has excellent infrastructure facilities to meet the requirements of the students and faculty. Centralized Information Centre includes a well supported Computer Center, Internet Center, Communication Skills Lab, Central Library, Audio-visual facilities, Conference Hall for Group Discussion and Digital Library.
The College provides separate Hostel Facility for Marine officer Cadet trainees with 24 x 7 Security System. The college provides transport facility covering all the areas of entire Chennai City and its suburb.
