The National Diabetes Institute (NADI) was established to provide a dedicated and comprehensive service for diabetics, to prevent and control diabetes and its complications.

NADI is a non-profit organisation managed by a Board of Trustees comprising representatives from the Malaysian Endocrine and Metabolic Society (MEMS), Diabetes Malaysia (DM), Ministry of Health (MOH), Elected and Founding members.

Our Objectives
The main objectives of NADI are:

  • To be a National Diabetes Education Resource Centre for the country
  • To establish and run a comprehensive health facility including a National Diabetes Hospital for the management of diabetes and its complications
  • To create and maintain a National Diabetes Registry
  • To coordinate and conduct research in diabetes and related conditions
  • To be the national coordinating centre for diabetes in Malaysia in respect to statistics,education, management, research, policy and planning on diabetes and associated diseases to prevent diabetes and associated cardiometabolic conditions such as high blood pressure, high blood cholesterol and heart disease through promotion of healthy lifestyle

Final Announcement for 'Diabetes Asia 2024' Conference

Prevalence of diabetes mellitus, especially of Type 2, is on the increase. This rise is most marked in developing countries, Malaysia included. Thus, there is an urgent need for strategies to prevent this 'epidemic' and for early diagnosis of diabetes.
