Introduction
- The Center for Data Science (CDS) is New York University’s focal point for university-wide efforts in Data Science. The Center was established in 2013 to advance NYU’s goal of creating a world-leading training and research facility serving researchers, industry professionals, and students at the forefront of Data Science.

History
Highlights:
- 2013: CDS was established to support NYU’s goal of creating a world-leading data science training and research facility
- 2013: Launched the MS in Data Science program, the first of its kind
- 2016: Moved to the historic 60 5th Avenue “Forbes Building,” expanding our facilities and resources
- 2017: Introduced the PhD program in Data Science
- 2019: Launched the undergraduate program in Data Science
- 2024: Grew to 22 jointly appointed interdisciplinary faculty, 3 clinical faculty, and over 70 associate and affiliate faculty from 25 departments in 9 schools and units

Our student groups maintain a full calendar of events, and we have a far-reaching alumni network led by an active Alumni Council.
