PreStart Safety & Training

This unit of competency covers the skills and knowledge required to issue work permits. It covers an understanding of the permit system and the limitations of each permit, and making decisions regarding the need for and correct use of each permit.

This course covers the theory and practical application of Gas Test Atmospheres. Upon successful completion, applicants will be awarded a Statement of Attainment.

Boom-type elevating work platform means a telescoping device, hinged device, or articulated device, or any combination of these, used to support a platform on which personnel, equipment and materials may be elevated.

Forklift truck means a powered industrial truck equipped with lifting media made up of a mast and an elevating load carriage to which is attached a pair of fork arms or other attachments that can be raised 900 mm or more above the ground, but does not include a pedestrian-operated truck

All learners must be able to read and comprehend English to a level that will enable them to safely perform duties as specified in the competency standard. PreStart Safety & Training recognises that some learners may require more support to meet the requirements of the training course.
