About Us

The School of Design and Construction is the premier destination for integrated design and construction education in the nation.

Having all of the built environment disciplines within the same school—Architecture, Construction Engineering, Construction Management, Interior Design and Landscape Architecture—and engineering programs within the same college, provides the opportunity to deliver a truly integrated, transformative, and unparalleled educational experience for students.

Students in the SDC will experience transformative learning such as travel, competitions, and community engagement that fosters soft skills, technical competence, and social responsibility to prepare you for the workforce.

At the same time, we are professionally and community engaged, bringing together academics, industry, students, and stakeholders in a way that leads to productive dialogue and positive action. We are pursuing rigorous research that leads to innovation in the design and construction fields.

Located in the Palouse region in Pullman, Washington, the school learns from and contributes to its place through community engagement and industry partnerships.

As a land grant institution, our mission focuses on producing and sharing practical knowledge through research and instruction for the betterment of society, the environment, and the construction industry.

We also extend ourselves throughout the state, nation, and world in order to improve the built environment for its inhabitants. Students are able to travel to various locations across the globe, build technical skills, and perform research, and community service.

Students learn from some of the brightest, most committed and dynamic faculty and staff in the country, while making connections to future employers and professionals.

The School of Design and Construction is a distinct culture and an academic team that focuses on fostering people and place, workforce readiness, technical competence, and innovation.
