At SEW NEW YORK we focus on developing your knowledge and skill of the construction of clothing.
We believe sewing is a craft that is learned over time through experience, and by having someone give direction and guidance immediately when you need it. Classes are for adults 18 years and older.
You will learn how to sew darts, work with interfacing, sew on a simple waistband, and put in a zipper. You’ll learn several important hand stitches, for the hem as well on other parts of the skirt. The skirt will be sewn with a lining.
Learn how to sew the french seam, how to sew on a bias binding, (for sleeve without ruffle). You will learn how to a sew in a neck facing. Top has a simple machine hem and may include some important hand-stitching.
This vintage style sleeveless top has princess seams on both the front and the back. The front has elegant details where the princess seams split slightly at the hemline. You will learn how to sew both neck and armhole facings.
Comfortable summer halter dress with an opening at the front neck. The halter meets and ties at the back. You will learn to sew easy seams and simple machine hems. Can be worn belted or not. Belt is part of the pattern.
Learn how to construct and sew perfect professional garments in an intimate setting in Brooklyn Heights. Classes are semi-private, only 1-3 students, with plenty of one-on-one attention. You will learn to sew properly at your own pace
