The Trust was formed in December 2005. At that time, a group of talented and enthusiastic circus professionals and amateurs were performing, training and engaging in teaching and learning.
The Trust was formed through the founders passion and drive to set up the infrastructure needed for artists to train, and to share circus with the Wellington public. It has now grown to become the largest and busiest circus school in New Zealand.
We have been located in Te Whaea building in Newtown since 2012. The training space is unique in New Zealand with its 12m stud height that enabled us to expand our range of activities. We have since grown to offer circus to people of all ages and abilities.
While our recreational classes remain our main focus, we are committed to supporting the growth of the professional circus sector. In January 2017, we offered our first intensive Summer School course, for which we brought internationally-recognised circus professionals to Wellington to teach professionals from all around the country.
The course was a huge success, which was repeated again in 2019. The Hub has also been the main training facilities of the Whitireia Circus-Dance course from 2015 to 2019.
Looking for something fun to do in the school holidays? Our school holiday programme is for children ages 5 - 15, whether they have circus experience or not.
