The institute for artificial intelligence & big data (aibig) was established in 2017 which is an initiative under the umk board of directors. Aibig serves as a reference centre for ai and big data research that focuses on research and development, academic programs, professional training, digital industry and technopreneur. The institute has been designed to provide a dynamic environment and research ecosystem toward the 4th industrial revolution (4ir), specifically in artificial intelligence, big data, data science, machine learning, and internet of things (iot).
The institute collaborates intensively in research projects and digital innovation with companies and universities, both local and international. In designing the relevant academic curriculum in the future, aibig has established partnerships with top it players such as microsoft, alibaba and huawei. This is to ensure our academic and research programs are relevant to the industrial needs. Aibig also has numbers of research fellows and associate fellows with an extensive range of professional backgrounds that give the institute its multidisciplinary character.
The aibig institute is responsible for the development of the it academic programs (undergraduate and postgraduate) as well as the establishment of data science department at umk. Moreover, aibig has coordinated numbers of it and digital innovation development, competition, events, and training. The institute is looking forward to successful partnership and collaborations with all interested parties in our continuous effort to develop aibig as a unique, sustainable and innovative institute with a strong international presence.
