The REDfugee Program was launched in April 2022 with a profound mission: to bridge the healthcare disparities refugees face.

In collaboration with our partner organizations—Refuge For The Refugees, Garabtaag, and Justice for Sisters—we are dedicated to creating an inclusive, compassionate, and effective healthcare system that provides refugees with access to affordable, high-quality care.

Our approach involves a referral system through which we work closely with refugee community leaders. This enables us to deliver targeted medical care to refugees with HIV, support expecting mothers, ensure children receive essential vaccinations, and offer family planning services.

The Red Refuge Healthcare Programme is funded by our NGO partners: Refuge For The Refugees, Garabtaag, and Justice for Sisters. To further support the work of these organizations, The Red Clinic fulfills its corporate social responsibility by charging these organizations a reduced rate.

Through these combined efforts, we strive to make a meaningful difference in the lives of refugees and ensure they receive the healthcare they deserve.

The Red Clinic has been actively involved with HIV-related research activities since 2018.

Partnering with Academic Institutions

  • Among our frequent collaborators are prestigious institutions such as University Malaya, renowned for its comprehensive research programs, the University of Connecticut, recognized for its innovation and academic excellence, and Yale University, a global leader in higher education and research. These collaborations enable us to enhance our research capabilities and foster a dynamic exchange of knowledge and ideas.

Our Role

  • The current ongoing project is a randomized-controlled trial titled JomPrEP. It is a study in collaboration with University Malaya, the University of Connecticut, and Yale University. The clinic serves as a study site for the research with the doctors and staff playing investigators roles. This study’s purpose is to evaluate the efficacy of the JomPrEP mobile application while assessing contextual implementation factors to guide its future adoption and scale-up in Malaysia for primary (ie, HIV testing and PrEP uptake) and secondary (ie, PrEP adherence and persistence) outcomes.
