About Us 

  • A non-profit society,The Shipyards District, was registered with the Province of British Columbia in December 2016 and an Executive Director was hired in May 2017.
  • With more than 600 business members, the B.I.A operates year-round to provide customer hospitality.
  • The 14-member T.S.D.B.I.A board is elected from eligible members at each Annual General Meeting.
  • Each director serves a two-year term on the board which meets nine times a year.
  • Programs and initiatives are executed by a full-time executive director supported by part-time and contract staff.
  • All commercial property owners and licensed business operators within the B.I.A. are eligible members.
  • The BIA boundary is comprised of eighteen city blocks beginning north at 4th street, south to Carrie Cates Court with St. George Street as its eastern border and Forbes Avenue as its western border.
