VanArts was founded in 1995 with Academy-Award winning animator/director Lee Mishkin as its founding program director. Recognizing the industry’s need for a skilled and specialized workforce, for 25 years VanArts has offered a variety of highly focused diploma programs.
Designed to prepare students for work in specific areas of the media arts including Visual Effects Production, Game Art & Design, Character Animation, Professional Photography, Acting for Film & Television, Web Development and Broadcasting.
By the end of the course you will apply these skills to create your own 3-5 minute film in any style: documentary, experimental or narrative.
Harmony classes introduce software components specific to your film project. Lighting and rendering are taught in the maya course to help enhance the visual presentation of your demo reel project, as well as providing visual polish on previous animation assignments.
The Professional Photography program begins by teaching you the fundamental principles of photography and photo imaging.
Want to learn how to make your own animated cartoons? Come and learn the fundamentals of 2D Character Animation at VanArts this summer, for 5 days of intensive training, an excellent introduction to how we teach in our one-year program.
Projects cover topics such as shape deformation, basic polygon modeling and UV mapping, intro to set up layers and organize a project work flow, lighting and photo-realistic rendering, camera set up, character animation with F-curves, controllers and inverse kinematics.
