Course Details

The Abrasive Wheel Regulations Course enables trainees to be able to identify the types of disc and tools appropriate to the Approved Code of Practice and their use and also, to be aware of the hazards if used incorrectly.

Upon completion of the course, operatives will have the theory knowledge in safety and setting up of an abrasive wheel and of the hazards if equipment or PPE are disregarded or used inappropriately.

The basic course syllabus includes...

  • Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 & ACOPS

  • Abrasive Wheel Regulations

  • Types of PPE and their uses

  • Power Source and Ventilation

  • Identification of Discs and Safety

  • Types of Power Tool and Safety Checks

  • Dust – Hand Arm Vibration and Hazards

  • Changing of Blades and Truing

  • Safety Guards and Running Speeds

  • Huntington Dresser and Stones

  • Pre Start Check Test

  • Practical Test

  • Theory Test

  • Course closing summary
