Performing Groups are only offered following the Term-based schedule and students are encouraged to register before the beginning of each Term. However, student are welcomed to join in the middle of the term as well and the fees will be prorated.
School Of Modern Dance opened it's doors in January 2013 as a studio for Russian-Speaking Community, where most popular styles were Eastern-European Folk and Ballet.
Throughout the years, we expanded and began to offer classes in Latino Mix, Heels, Hip Hop, Jazz Funk, Caribbean Moves, Vogue, Jazz, Ballet, Lyrical, Contemporary, Stretching, Ballet Barre Fitness and more.
You can take classes for fun or become a part of performing team! We offer classes at our two locations - Kanata South and Bells Corners.
Ballet originated in the sixteenth and seventeenth century French courts, and was further developed in England, Italy, and Russia as a concert dance form. Ballet develops strength, posture, flexibility, coordination and focus.
This class is focused on technique at the barre, down the floor, and in the centre. Ballet is the foundation of all dance styles.
Along with general ballet classes, we offer pre-pointe classes that focus on core-strengthening exercises and techniques for preparing your feet and ankles for pointe work. Dancing en pointe refers to balancing on the tips of fully extended feet.
