Adult Beginners is a class for adults who currently do not know how to swim and may have a healthy fear of water. Adult swimmers learn how to snorkel as well as swim. In this class you will learn how to; back float, tread water, and complete a 65 foot swim.
This class is for ages 18 and up. Our teachers are trained to teach adults and understand that a lot of students come in with a healthy fear of the water. All of our teachers are very patient and are happy to go at whatever learning pace each student needs.
We will never push you to do something you are not ready to do. Our students also have the option to start out with gear that we provide to make you more comfortable in your learning process.
We have a mask/snorkel, snorkel vest, and fins for you to use. There will also be snorkeling skills introduced for those wanting to learn.
In this class you will learn the proper kick along with the proper arms to result in a forward motion swim. Safety skills are a must for adults as well as kids so we will also go over back floating and treading water as well.
Any fear of the deep end will be worked on with slow introduction to result in a jump in turn around and grab the wall skill. No matter if your goal is to just to be comfortable in the water, or to swim a triathlon, we can teach you! The ratio is 6:1 and it is a 30 minute long class.
We know many of our parents are busy professionals and you've taken time out of your busy schedule to spend with us. We encourage our parents to be on-deck with their swimmers to observe lessons first hand.
However, if you need to relax we have a comfortable waiting room or a quiet outdoor deck. We also have free WiFi access for anyone who's still working!
Swimming training is offered by CK Sports for all skill level. CK Sports strives to promotes youth wellness as well as develop compassionate, strong-minded, civic leaders for the 21st century.Â
In this level we are working with students to get them acquainted with the water as well as water safety. Skills we will be working on include putting our faces in the water, floating, and kicking.
This type of lesson is necessary for infants and students who are not water-safe and require more attention. It is also recommended for older students with extreme anxiety or behavior that is not conducive to group lessons.
Strokes taught in this adult course include backcrawl, breaststroke and crawl stroke. Diving is also included. (Prerequisites: Students must be comfortable in deep water and must be able to swim 20 yards.)
Our swim lesson program follows the YMCA of the USA’s national safety and core skill development standards, and are based on the abilities of each participant. Our teen and adult swim lessons include beginner, intermediate and advanced levels.
