DurationEach and every Tuesday the LCSH teachers take our Pre-K students to the Oak Square YMCA in Brighton by Eastern Bus. The first day of swim class, the instructors teach safety rules and practice safety with the students in the shallow area of the pool. A floating device we call a bubble is placed on every child before he/she enters the water.
Instructors gently take a few children into the water at a time to evaluate in which group they will be placed. One instructor teaches only five children at a time, with two lifeguards in attendance at all times.
Swim lessons last 50 minutes. After the students finish their swimming lessons and get dressed, the bus is waiting for the return to LCSH. LCSH pays for transportation, while parents pay for swim lessons.
Little Corner SchoolHouse (LCSH) was founded in 1989 as a co-educational early childcare facility, servicing the needs of parents and their children from ages 8 weeks through 6 years. Our programs include Infant, Toddler, Preschool, and Pre-Kindergarten (Pre-K).
Blue Whale Pool Management offers swimming lessons! Classes are conducted by our trained instructors or certified lifeguards and are available on a group, semi-private, or private basis. Individuals taking the lessons are responsible for payment of lesson fees.
Strokes taught in this adult course include backcrawl, breaststroke and crawl stroke. Diving is also included. (Prerequisites: Students must be comfortable in deep water and must be able to swim 20 yards.)
In this level we are working with students to get them acquainted with the water as well as water safety. Skills we will be working on include putting our faces in the water, floating, and kicking.
Our swim lesson program follows the YMCA of the USA’s national safety and core skill development standards, and are based on the abilities of each participant. Our teen and adult swim lessons include beginner, intermediate and advanced levels.
Adult Beginners is a class for adults who currently do not know how to swim and may have a healthy fear of water. Adult swimmers learn how to snorkel as well as swim.
