This course advances skills and knowledge already gained within your Level 2 studies with hair and media make-up. You will develop further understanding towards the industry and more specialised subjects and areas of work.

This course is for anyone seeking a creative career pathway into the media make-up industry, which will allow you the opportunity to work in specialist areas such as theatre, film, television, fashion and occasional make-up.

Through the completion of this course, you can expect a clear understanding of career requirements, industry standards and a high level of technical skill.

You will gain valuable work experience which will build your confidence and contacts within the industry, helping to guide you on your next destination.

What are the entry requirements?

You must have achieved an appropriate Level 2 qualification.

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed through observation of your skills and on-going assessment. There will be an end exam to check your knowledge.

A sketchbook portfolio will be created weekly to display all your practical work within make-up and hair, this is used to check your knowledge for both practical and theory and to showcase your work for university and industry requirements.

What can I do next?

You can progress to university studied at Level 4, there is a in house foundation degree available at Middlesbrough College ‘FD Specialist Hair and Makeup for Creative Industries’.

Career opportunities include freelance makeup artist, bridal specialist makeup artist, television and film makeup artist, special effects makeup artist, hair stylist and body painter.
