Students will acquire the knowledge, experience, and confidence to build lifelong cooking skills that can ignite creativity, and build self-esteem
Our goal is to equip and expose students to hands on recipes around the world. Our young chefs will learn about different global flavours. We will step by step teach our students how to prepare these meals, appreciate new foods, new flavours and diverse cultures.
Students will be empowered to execute sweet and savoury recipes at home so as to help cook meals at home and prepare lunches for school. Our welcoming environment provides a “real” setting so that the students can take what they learn to their own homes.
Students will acquire the knowledge, experience, and confidence to build lifelong cooking skills that can ignite creativity, and build self-esteem. Students will eat what they prepare, execute recipes learned at home, build confidence, and most importantly create memories that will last forever.
We will be following the most up to date guidelines provided by Alberta health Services and the Government of Alberta. We will inform you of requirements to attend the camps such as the use of masks and temperature checks prior to day 1 of our school.
We will follow all necessary protocols to ensure a safe environment for all participants. We will keep you posted on the most recent protocols as we draw close to school. We want to use this opportunity to thank you for your understanding.
Nini’s Cooking School is one of our favourite time of the year. It allows us the opportunity to build relationships, go in-depth and get even more creative in the kitchen, learn global cuisines, and laugh while enjoying tasty meals. This is because we have more time to bring out the best in your child.
Our curriculum will also expose your budding chef the following areas:
Note:
Nini’s Cooking Class was created to educate, encourage, and get families excited about getting their own kids into the kitchen to create a love of cooking healthy foods, and for kids to help out at home or to prepare their school lunches.
I am a firm believer that starting early to share food knowledge with kids while enabling them to create recipes on their own will have a positive impact on their life-long eating habits as well as their health.
If they can learn how to prepare their meals at a young age, they will in turn pass on these skills to the next generation.
I believe that if we empower children to learn how to make foods at a very young age, they will make healthier food choices in the future.
In a busy world with individuals having little or no time to learn or teach their children, we are committed to bringing back home made meals. My love for cooking coupled with the desire to share my knowledge is the reason I have chosen to start this cooking class.
My primary focus are children and teenagers as I want to start them off on the right foot and then pass on the skills learned to future generations just as it was passed on to me.
Trust me, your child will become excited about foods you never thought they would try! I look forward to starting a journey with you, your friends, or even your love ones!
These workshops will equip your child with the fundamental basics of cooking which will inspire them to start cooking and baking on their own at home
The young cooks also have the opportunity to join in our actions fighting food insecurity through a concrete action- preparing meals for community organizations!
Community Kitchens improve people’s cooking and meal-preparation skills and teach budget-friendly, delicious, and nutritious recipes.
Each year, we offer two 7-week cooking classes for students at Thomson ages 9-12. These classes focus on healthy eating, how to follow recipes, and how to shop for food (via a trip to a local grocery store).
