Bachata originated from the Dominican Republic. This dance is a four-step beat achieved with a walking Cuban hip motion, and a unique “pop”. It is performed both in the open position and in a closed position depending on the setting and mood of the partners. Bachata has become more and more popular over the years and has grown into many different styles across the world.

From the Dominican Republic, the Bachata has its origins in Bolero and Son – Featuring a basic step pattern, simple turns and an element of free-style, Bachata has expanded from its origins in the Dominican Republic and is now danced all over the world.Â

Bachata is a dance derived from Lambada with most commonly a hip bump replacing the usual Lambada flick. Zouk is also derived from Lambada and is a very relaxed flowing dance featuring head flicks by the follower.
